Everything You Need To Know About The 2021 Gossip Girl Reboot
Hey Upper-East Siders, The 2021 Gossip Girl reboot is finally happening, so prepare yourself for some serious scandal. The HBO series picks up eight years after the original cast departed our screens (does anyone else feel old yet?), we will soon be introduced to seven more wealthy and wild private school teens.
With big shoes to fill, we cannot wait to get acquainted with the Gossip Girl reboot cast who are carrying on the torch (or should we say drama) from the likes of Blair Waldorf, Serena Van Der Woodsen, Nate Archibald, Chuck Bass and the one and old lonely boy Dan Humphrey.
The Gossip Girl reboot started with a plot twist, revealing the identity of Gossip Girl, meaning the new cast don’t have to play a dangerous game of cat and mouse against an anonymous internet persona. Instead, we are made aware of who they are, and their work is all based on Instagram. But will they still bring the same level of vengeance and drama? Of course. Fans can still grip onto past themes and connections to the old series, but the Gossip Girl reboot and the new stylish and scandalous clique will bring a fresh and modern take on things, being more representative of all teens. After all, the reboot’s success will depend a lot on Nostalgia from us Noughties teens, right?
From the classic shot of the cast on the Met steps, to macaroons, champagne and designer clothes, we're more than ready for the Gossip Girl reboot.
Gossip Girl Reboot Release Date
The show premiered in the US last week, but don’t worry, it’s set to grace our screens weekly on BBC iPlayer. Yay! Although the Gossip Girl reboot release date is yet to be confirmed, you can expect it within the next few months. There’s no need to worry about filling a Love Island void at the end of summer, because the Gossip Girl cast will keep you entertained. Why be a part of the drama when you can get your kicks by simply observing it, right?
Gossip Girl Reboot Cast
The Gossip Girl reboot will follow a new generation of filthy rich, troubled and dramatic NYC private school teens as they meddle their way through life, all under the watchful eye of Gossip Girl (we are buzzing Kristen Bell has come back to do her iconic voice over.) Starring up and coming actors Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith, we are excited to welcome the new generation of St. Judes and Constance Billard’s students.
But will the Gossip Girl reboot see Leighton Meester and Blake Lively make a comeback to our screens? Fans across the world are crossing their fingers in hope that the original cast members will at least make a cameo, if not have their own story line, and we are too! Nevertheless, we can't wait for the Gossip Girl reboot cast to step it up even more than their predecessors.
Almost a decade after the original show aired, the director wanted to not only highlight the advancements in technology and social media, but also wanted the Gossip Girl reboot to be more inclusive. Featuring non-white leads and LGBT+ characters, the show will see our cast go through the classic realms of young adult-hood while still giving it a modern twist by featuring contemporary issues. However, mystery and scandal will be at the heart of every storyline.
