Our Fave' Christmas Movies

It's December, babe! Which means it’s finally acceptable to put up your Christmas tree and cuddle up to watch Christmas movies (I swear we weren’t already doing that in November). With the U.K finally coming out of lockdown but most regions remaining in strict tiers, there’s no better time to get your festive PJs on, hot chocolate at the ready, and tin of Quality Street while you snuggle up in front of the fire to watch Christmas movies on Netflix. From classic Christmas movies that take us back to our childhood, Christmas Rom-Com movies that give us all the feels and new Christmas films that give us hope during these troubling times, here are some of our fave’ Christmas movies to watch this year.

Bridget Jones’ Diary

Okay, we know some of you are snubbing Bridget Jones’ Diary when it comes to being a Christmas movie, but let us single gals live a minute, okay? A classic for all us twenty something huns and a comfort for us that are also bae-less during the festive season, the trials and tribulations of Bridget’s dating life around Christmas time is a huge confort. From Bridget drunk dancing around her flat while singing All By Myself in Christmas pyjamas, to Mark Darcy insulting her in his hideous reindeer jumper, Bridget Jones is deffo’ a Christmas movie that we look forward to every year. It even ends with Bridget and Mark Darcy kissing in the snow, how much festive can it get! (Soz for the spoiler alert!) If you're just out of a relationship and need a movie to equally laugh and cry to, then Bridget Jones’ Diary is deffo’ a Christmas movie that delves into the heartbreak but absolute ecstasy of being single during the holiday period. Crack open a bottle of red wine!

Holidate

Are we sick of romantic Christmas movies yet? Not one tiny bit. We are a sucker for a lil’ bit of holiday romance, and this new Christmas movie on Netflix deffo’ fills almost every single Christmas Rom-Com movie trope and we are totally here for it. From that heartbroken “I hate Christmas” character, the one with the cute Aussie accent, their supposed disliking of one another that turns into passionate love, and a cheesy rendition of Christmas songs, this movie just about got all of it and we are obsessed. Holidate is definitely a must-see Christmas movie on Netflix this year.

The Grinch

The older we get, the more we realise that we are literally the same person as The Grinch. Avoids social situations? Check. Would rather spend time with our dog? Check. Looks cute in red? Check. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is a classic Christmas movie that gets funnier every year and is one of our top faves’ when it comes to Christmas movies on Netflix. We might not be that miserable to ruin anyones Christmas, but The Grinch is still so relatable. Get your fluffy socks on and hot choco' at the ready for a Christmas movie binge this weekend, girl.

Elf

It’s the yellow tights for me, babe. If you are looking for the perfect family Christmas to watch during the festive season with your nearest and dearest, then Elf is definitely your go-to option, girl. I mean, is there any movie that Will Farrell stars in that doesn’t make you LOL? Funny, wholesome and nostalgic AF, this Christmas movie has us coming back to watch year after year. Forget Elf on the Shelf, Buddy the Elf is our number one bae.

The Holiday

Okay, we are back with another romantic Christmas movie that will totally fill up all the grinchy vibes in your heart. The Holiday, featuring an all-star cast of Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black is definitely a Crimbo' movie worth watching for all you hopeless romantics. From cute English cottages, Jude Law lookin’ sexy AF and unrequited love, we are almost more excited to nestle up to watch this classic Christmas movie more than we are to tuck into the turkey on X-mas day.
