Acts Of Kindness To Do This Month
With the season of giving already swiftly behind us (can you tell that we miss Christmas?) we’ve decided that we’re not done with gift giving just yet, girl. With January being the most depressing month of the year plus it’s ages till payday, the weather is dull and gloomy not to mention we’re in a global pandemic, we’re here to spread a little bit of cheer this month with some random acts of kindness. From sending your bestie a surprise card to let them know you’re thinking about them, to paying for someone's coffee order, these random acts of kindness of ideas are sure to brighten up anyone's day!
Offer To Cook A Meal
Whether you live with your family, besties or partner, offering to make someone a meal can be a super thoughtful way of showing how much you care. From making a five course meal with all the trimmings, to offering to bring them a coffee and biscuit while they’re working, it’s the thought that counts, girl. Wanna show them how much they mean to you? Try some quick and easy recipes to impress them with your new culinary skills!
Compliment A Stranger
Ok, so we know that we’re in a lockdown ATM and the only time we’re gonna be heading outside is for exercise or doing the weekly trip to the supermarket but that doesn’t mean that you still can’t compliment someone! Whether it be in line for the checkout and you’re loving someone's face covering or hair style, compliment them (from a safe distance, obvs)! But, compliments don’t have to just be IRL, we’re all about being online too! Follow some girls and obsessed with their style? Drop them a DM or comment on their most recent post to spread some love!
Make A Donation
After the rush of Christmas and spending time with family and friends, it’s important to take some time to remember the people who may be less fortunate than you or who are just in need of a helping hand. Whether it be donating food in your local supermarket, making an online donation to a charity that is close to your heart or taking part in a fundraising run or walk, supporting anyone in any way is so important. If you’re keen to get involved, why not try volunteering? Look online for your local Food Shelters to give out food or volunteer your time in a charity clothes shop to support causes close to you. Having a clothes clear out? Donate them to charity and know that someone else will get even more use and love out of them!
Check In On Old Friends
Whether you’ve had an argument with someone and the friendship has ended or you’ve grown apart from an old friend, why not try reaching out to them to clear the air? If you long for the days of what used to be, drop them a message on social media to rekindle an old friendship and share your act of kindness! Just knowing that you were thinking about them could really make a difference to their day and improve their mood. It’s all water under the bridge now, girl!
Send A Card
Now more than ever, it’s so important to check in on your friends and family, whether it be dropping them a message or jumping on Facetime, having that verbal interaction can really help a person who is struggling. Know that your friend is going through a hard time right now? Why not surprise them by sending them a ‘thinking of you’ card! With companies like Moonpig & Thortful, sending a card to someone has never been easier. With next day delivery and the option to add on extras, this will definitely brighten their day and is the perfect little act of kindness.
Learn A New Skill For Someone
Learning a new skill that is beneficial to others can be an amazing way to show someone that you really care. It can be as simple as learning how to play their favourite game, learning how to style their hair or even learning something as important as sign language. During these unprecedented times, helping others out and making them feel appreciated and included can be a big step forward in showing someone kindness.
There’s No Better Feeling Than Being Kind To You
Yep, you read that right! Be kind to YOURSELF! So many times we can get so caught up in making sure the people around us are doing ok, but how many times have you stepped back and actually thought ‘Am I doing ok?’. Whether you’re version of being kind to yourself is enjoy your fave hot chocolate curled up with a good book, giving yourself a day off from working out or treating yourself to that item you’ve had on your wishlist for forever, take some time out of your day for the most important person in your life and give yourself a well deserved act of kindness.
