Beauty Trends & Products Set To Storm 2021
From model brows, faux freckles, lip fillers, coloured hair strips and jade rollers, 2020 was an eventful year in the world of beauty to say the least. We all had our fair share of ‘all dressed up with nowhere to go’ moments, but hey, at least we looked cute throughout a pandemic, right? We have all been anticipating what beauty trends and products will be this year, and here are a few that have caught our eye…
Lockdown 3.0 glow up? Yes, please!
Clean Beauty
What is clean beauty you may ask? Lookin’ fire AF all while not harming animals, humans or our planet. Hopefully not just a trend but a long term commitment that more beauty brands will sign up to in 2021, clean beauty is not just a conscious decision for big brands this year, but a must. Environmentally friendly, ethical and cruelty free products, ‘cos why wouldn’t we all try to be a little more mindful when it comes to what we put on our bodies and how these products have been made, right? Some of fave ‘clean beauty’ brands are Glossier and Elf. If you’re already trying out Veganuary, then some new makeup and beauty products will give your beauty cabinet a lil’ TLC.
Korean Skincare
When it comes to new beauty trends and products, korean skincare experts are always at the top of the leaderboard. You just have to watch a K-pop music video or a K-drama to witness just what we mean. From clear and smooth AF textures that give the Cullens from Twilight a run for their money, to dewy skin, and bright colour palettes, K-skincare is definitely set to makes waves globally in 2021. Give your skin some much needed brightness and hydration, ‘cos we are all lacking a bit of that during lockdown, and try Watermelon Glow Dew Drops or Pineapple-C Bright Serum, both must-haves for your beauty regime. Focusing on hydrating products that plump, brighten, and give your skin a radiant glow, your Insta’ followers are gonna be expecting selfies non-stop.
Online Dermatology
I mean, considering we have to do everything online these days, it comes as no surprise that dermatology appointments are set to become a big thing in the beauty world the coming months. With more time at home and maybe more time to focus on our skincare routine, many of us have become more interested in what kind of products work best for us. From irritation caused by wearing masks, lack of sunlight and dry skin from being indoors 24/7, dermatologists are set to have a busy year.
Maskne Products
Although we encourage you to wear a mask at all times when you leave your house, we also encourage you to make sure that you are looking after your skin and cleaning your mask regularly to prevent Maskne. Make sure you’re up to your usual hot girl antics and cleanse your face both morning and night, and bump it up when it comes to oil-free moisturisers and serums. If you’re gonna be out and about at work all day then we advise you to try changing your mask at least twice daily, and try to cut down on dairy and sugar consumption. Using glycolic acid pads or serums will help you combat pimples around your chin, cheeks and mouth. Maskne? We don’t know her, babe.
Heatless Waves
Since we spend less time socialising and probably more time watching Tik Tok videos into the early hours, 2021 might be a fab opportunity to give your hair a much needed break from heat. If you’re like us and usually dry, straighten or curl your hair daily, then heatless waves are one of our fave’ beauty trends that are set to become very popular this year. After you’ve washed your hair and applied your usual products ( if you’re on the hunt for something new, we suggest Olaplex), simply divide your hair into two bunches. On each side, take another two parts and twist them into a braid, clipping them at the end, and then into one big bunch at the end). We suggest sleeping with your hair like this overnight for soft, effortless waves the next day. Your whole team will be envious over your luscious locks on your work Zoom meeting!
