Our Go-To Hot Weather Makeup Routine!
Obviously we’re buzzing for summer, and with all of the summer plans getting booked into our calendars there’s going to be at least one day-drinks reservation or beach day where we’re feeling like pulling off some summer glam. But with the warmer weather, we’re going to need go-to products that will help make sure we don’t sweat our makeup off!
If you’re stuck on how to keep your makeup heat proof and intact all day, read through our go-to hot weather makeup routine for some inspiration! Whether it’s for an upcoming summer wedding or for a beach day with your mates, you’ll find a heatproof product to suit you!
A Fresh Base
The first step to any skincare or makeup routine is a clean canvas, so it’s super important to cleanse your skin before diving head first into your new summer glam routine. A firm favourite is The Ordinary’s Squalane Cleanser, an affordable beauty product that’ll have your skin feeling fresh and hydrated from your first use!
Cleansing helps to remove any dirt, oil, or excess makeup from the night before so that you’ve got a fresh base to start your hot weather routine. After cleansing, make sure you moisturise, apply SPF and finally a primer to help keep your makeup intact. Now you can get started with the fun stuff!
Foundation
Your foundation is a key part of any makeup routine, it’s literally the base of your makeup! For warm weather plans, a no-budge foundation is key to building a heat proof makeup routine, and we’ve found that the IT cosmetics CC+ cream has everything you’ll need from a hot weather ready foundation! It gives you a ‘your skin but better vibe’ as it’s infused with hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to give your skin a gorgeous glow!
The IT cosmetics CC+ cream is super lightweight but still gives you medium coverage, so it’s super buildable which makes it perfect for when you don’t want to layer up your makeup too much but still want coverage. It’s a foundation that we think is too good to only wear in the summer.
Powder
Once your base is complete, setting your foundation helps to control your skin’s shine, so a translucent powder is a makeup must (especially if you have oily skin!). A tried and trusted cult favourite is the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, so we know it’s a good investment and the perfect lightweight product to help keep your makeup looking fresh all day long.
It’s important to apply setting powder to the parts of your face which will get oily first, these are typically the T zone and under your eyes. When you apply your powder, you can either apply a light sweep of powder to these areas or you can apply the powder, let it sit for a few minutes then dust away!
Mascara
The last thing you want to smudge is your mascara. Wiping away mascara from under your eyes whilst out to lunch? No thank you.
You’re going to need a waterproof mascara that’s good enough to be a solid staple in your makeup bag, and we’re in love with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara! It’s become an iconic makeup cult favourite with its well known anti-smudge formula that will stay in place all day long! When they say it’s waterproof, they mean it, so you’ll have stunning voluminous lashes that look as good as your falsies all day long.
Setting Spray
We all know the classic All Nighter Setting Spray, but for this summer, Urban Decay have released their latest lock-in formula in the All Nighter Setting Spray with Vitamin C, a fresh formula that’s designed to give you a glowy finish whilst keeping your makeup in place all day long. It’s infused with vitamin c and cactus flower water to make sure your skin stays hydrated whilst you rock your best summer glam.
There’s even multiple ways to use the Urban Decay setting sprays! Other than being one of the best setting sprays on the market, you can also spritz a little on your face as a primer before you apply your makeup, or to help brighten your eye shadows and reduce fall out. It’s a winner, so make sure you keep yours stocked up all summer long.
