Our Fave Met Gala Looks Throughout The Years

Often referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out,” the infamous Met Gala 2021 takes place today in New York City. A star studded red carpet featuring some of the biggest A-list celebrities in the world, this year’s Met Gala theme is In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion. Hosting the highly anticipated event is Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka, Billie Eilish and Amanda Gorman. So, what is the Met Gala? Aside from hosting some of the world’s biggest stars and the best fashion looks in history, at its core it is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York City (Yes, the iconic steps that our faves’ Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf often frequent).

After a pandemic influenced hiatus, the Met Gala 2021 will be split into two parts, and we can’t wait to witness some of the most renowned fashion moments in history. Today’s event will be a much more intimate gathering, while a larger scale celebration will take place in May 2022. However, in honour of the return of this highly anticipated event, we’re going to round up some of fave’ Met Gala looks throughout the year.

Harry Styles Met Gala

Former One Direction star Harry Styles has come a long way from his boyband days, successfully establishing himself as one of the most influential young artists and fashion icons in 2021. Known for his androgynous ensembles that can be compared to fellow British music stars David Bowie and Elton John, the Harry Styles Met Gala Gucci look broke down many boundaries when it comes to male fashion.

Kim Kardashian Met Gala

Bringing the world of fashion and social media together, the Queen of Instagram Kim K is an annual fixture at the Met Gala ball.  Although her first appearance at the prestigious event may have been as Kanye West’s guest, her attendance is now a given every year. Our favourite Kim Kardashian Met Gala outfit is her stunning 2018 piece. Perfectly outlining her silhouette and famous curves, when it comes to Met Gala dresses, her custom Thierry Mugler will be talked about for years.

Billy Porter Met Gala

Most recently known for starring in Netflix’s Pose, Broadway legend Billy Porter brings another dimension to the world of fashion every time he graces the Met Gala red carpet. Speaking to Vanity Fair, the star’s stylist Sam Ratelle has said that the pair have worked on over 150 red carpet looks together, most of the concepts and ideas coming from Porter himself. His Met Gala outfits often rival that of Lady Gaga’s, and his Met Gala 2019 look was no exception. Wearing huge golden wings while being carried onto the red carpet by gold tinted, shirtless men, the Billy Porter Met Gala looks always make a statement.

Kylie Jenner Met Gala

Following in her older sister’s footsteps, a Kylie Jenner Met Gala appearance is always expected. The Instagram and beauty mogul stepped out with sister Kendall in a show stopping matching Versace dress for 2019’s theme “Camp,” and quickly broke the internet with their orange and purple ensembles. It’s safe to say that the KarJenner clan always serve when it comes to the best Met Gala looks

Zendaya Met Gala

Blessing our eyes with some of the best Met Gala outfits year after year, we’re disheartened that our gal Zendaya will be having a break from this year’s event due to a busy work schedule. Luckily we have an endless supply of Zendaya Met Gala looks to gush over. Whether it’s her Joan of Arc inspired outfit for the Met Gala 2018 or her gold sleek Michael Kors Met Gala dress in 2016, the beautiful actress gets the assignment every. single. time.
